Recently, TESA was honored to receive the William Hlushko’s Young Cooperative Educators Award from the Association of Cooperative Educators (ACE). The award “recognizes achievement as a cooperative educator to those 35 years or younger.†This marks the first year that an organization has been presented with the award, and we are thrilled to be its recipients.
Morgan Crawford, the Director of Education from our friends at the North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO), introduced TESA and presented us with the award at the ACE Institute’s banquet. It was a wonderful opportunity to receive this recognition at an event in front of so many of our friends, colleagues, peers, and allies. We were given a brief opportunity to say a few words, and our message focused on the need to lay a path towards a truly democratic society through democratic education. Because we can’t just talk to people about democracy – people must practice and learn democracy through experiencing it.
TESA thanks the Association of Cooperative Educators for this meaningful recognition! We’re looking forward to continuing our work building the cooperative movement through democratic, participatory, and experiential initiatives.
