We are thrilled to announce that, with the financial support of Equal Exchange TESA is launching a Cooperative Education Scholarship for our TESA Academy. The scholarship will allow us to offer a minimum of one free seat for our the cooperative track of our Academy. Currently, this scholarship will apply to Introduction to Cooperatives, Worker-Coops 101, and Creating a Cooperative Food Economy. As the year progresses, we plan on expanding the offerings in our cooperative track, and in turn, this scholarship will extend to any new classes we produce that focus on cooperatives.
As it stands, all of these courses are already offered at a very minimal price, and with the assistance of Equal Exchange, our courses are now that much more accessible. At TESA, we are strong believers in making education accessible and interactive, and we are now doing that much more to achieve those ends.
As a proud worker-cooperative, we work hard to fulfill the Seven Cooperative Principles. This Cooperative Education Scholarship allows us to fulfill the 5th Principle: Education, Training and Information, which states: “Co-operatives provide education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of their co-operatives. They inform the general public – particularly young people and opinion leaders – about the nature and benefits of cooperation.” Without Equal Exchange’s assistance, this would never have been possible, bringing us to the 6th Principle: Co-operation among Co-operatives, which states “Co-operatives serve their members most effectively and strengthen the co-operative movement by working together through local, national, regional and international structures.”
We ask that those who apply are in need of financial assistance to take our courses, and as always, we pledge to use the money spent on the higher end of the sliding scale to help subsidize for those who can’t pay as much.
