The cooperative movement is the best opportunity we have for reshaping our economy. We know this work is hard, and we can too often get bogged down with everything there is to do. But for this Co-op Month, we need to focus on celebrating our successes. Let’s take this month to share the joyous aspects of being part of a vibrant, committed, strong group of people who care about making the world a better place.
Being the educators we are, we couldn’t resist bringing a little learning into the celebration—fun, participatory, engaging learning, of course. To kick the month off, we’ve devised 7 Steps to a More Democratic Co-op, highlighting what we can do to keep our movement democratic, all in seven fiery graphics for easy sharing. (Step 1 is at left; click on the link to see the following six.)
We’re following this with the release of a new, free resource that you can use in your community, classroom, or workshop to teach others about democracy in action—stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter pages, or shoot us an email and we’ll be sure to send you the details when we release it.
For our local folks, we’re hosting the first-ever Co-op Carnival with Food for Thought Books on October 19, featuring great food, prizes, music, and more. We’d love for you to join us! And even if you can’t be there in person, you can still participate in the raffle online.
What are you doing to celebrate? Stay in touch—we’d love to hear!
