Are You Ready for Co-op Month?

Co-op Carnival

With Co-op Month just a couple weeks away, we’re in high gear planning events and working on new resources to celebrate and spread the word.

We’re working with Food for Thought Books to on the Co-op Carnival, 10/19, 3-8pm at Food for Thought, which will feature a honk brass band and a folk string band, among other musical acts, good food, and great drinks. This family friendly event will have face painting and other carnival activities for kids to enjoy.

We’re also bringing together lots of great local businesses to celebrating building the new economy: Valley Green Feast, Simple Diaper & Linen, Equal Exchange, Artisan Beverage Co-op, Open Book Collective, Amherst Community Market, Pelham Auto, and Pedal People.

There will be amazing prizes for our raffle. A few of the highlights: Wheatberry gift basket, Next Barn Over farm share, Equal Exchange gift basket, Celia Grace fair trade wedding apparel, Co-opoly bundle, lifetime membership to Food for Thought, road bike, set of tools from Integrity Development & Construction, 1 month free diapers from Simple Diapers & Linen, gift certificates from the Roost and Green Bean, and so much more!

We’ll have more info about the event to come, but for now, save the date!

We’re also figuring out the final details for our Co-opoly tournament at UMass, sponsored by UMassFive Credit Union. This will be the first ever tournament featuring our game, and we’ve designed new cards just for the event that will allow different groups playing Co-opoly to interact with each other. We’re excited to work with UMassFive to introduce the next generation of credit union members to the co-op movement.

Want to host your own Co-opoly game-playing event during Co-op Month? Check out our Party & Community Kit, or take your Co-opoly prowess to the next level with our Design Your Own version of the game! And, of course, we are always happy to work with you to create a fun and interactive Co-opoly workshop for your class, workplace, or community.

However you want to be involved, we hope you join us in celebrating co-ops in October!
